Sleeping with Back Pain

So, you’ve run into back pain and you’ve contacted our Edmonds chiropractic clinic for help. That was a good first step, but how are you going to get through the night while you wait for your appointment? In the event that you need to sleep through your pain before you can get into the office, there are certain steps you can take to help the night pass more easily.

One of the best ways to keep the pressure off the spine is to lay on your side with your spine in a neutral position. Grip a pillow between your knees so that your legs don’t pull your pelvis out of alignment. If you can’t avoid sleeping on your back, try propping up your knees with a pillow. Sleeping face down can be hard on your spine, particularly for your neck. And most importantly, make sure that you are sleeping on a comfortable, level surface.
