Beat Your Insomnia with Exercise

When you’re struggling with chronic back pain, it can be easy to get trapped in a vicious cycle. A good night’s sleep is a vital part of recovery, but the horrible pain you feel can often cause insomnia. So, how can you break out of this cycle?

The good news is that your solution may be as simple as thirty minutes of walking. According to the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS), some moderate aerobic exercise, but not either heavy aerobic exercise or moderate strength exercises, can serve to improve both the length and quality of the sleep experienced by people who are suffering from insomnia. Studies have demonstrated that people partaking of such exercise take about half as much time to fall asleep, and sleep for over a third as much longer.
